We freely and willingly adapted an article that humorously trashed every expat on the planet. We figured (as usual), a little self-deprecation wouldn't hurt anyone. So, before this article blows up on social media (for better or worse), we want to let our 'dear clientele' know that we've all been or still are olim… so, yeah, we're 'assholes' too 🙂 Let's be real, any Oleh or ex-Oleh who doesn't see themselves in at least one of these 12 reasons can sue us for defamation 🙂 1. Ever since you moved to Israel, you can’t stand those French people who act like they own the place in *your* country! 2. You’ve lived here for ten years. Ten… that’s also the number of Hebrew words you actually know. 3. You’ve become a baguette snob, even though you’d never say no to a Carrefour baguette back in France. 4. Same goes for cheese. You turn down 90% of what’s offered. 5. In the ‘proud to be French’ series, ever since you landed in Israel, you’ve become a total wine expert, always ready to teach these poor Israeli heathens how to tell good wine from bad… which basically means French wine from Israeli wine. 6. Everyone knows you here, you know everyone, and you’ve got connections to all the best spots… which still doesn’t stop you from struggling at the door of those ‘best spots’ every damn time… 7. You practically live on the beach, so you know every server by name. 8. You genuinely can’t fathom why, after 10 years of Alyah, people still respond to you in English when you ask a question in Hebrew… 9. You can’t handle Israelis criticizing France in front of you! 10. Which, ironically, doesn't stop you from constantly criticizing it yourself. 11. Israeli fashion sense? 12. So many of your sentences start with, 'Back in France, we do it like this…'
